About us

History

The Dunsborough Hardware Centre was founded by R. J. McNally & Co back in 1958 to service the small township of Dunsborough and surrounding districts. Ray McNally was Dunsborough's sole local builder and operated the hardware store in conjunction with his building company. In 1967, having just left school, Peter Baxter approached Ray McNally for a job and was soon put to work as an apprentice brick layer. Winding the clock forward to June 1999, the opportunity arrived for Peter Baxter to return to the Dunsborough Hardware business. The Baxter’s operated the business for 15 years until they sold and moved on to retirement

There have been many significant changes and improvements made which have seen it grow into the success that it is today. Most significant of these changes was the bold move to relocate from its original location in the centre of town to its current expanded site on Commonage Road. This move was necessary to accommodate the growing township and surrounding region. Today in its current location the Dunsborough hardware operates as a Mitre 10 store which in itself brings many benefits to the local community, through its diverse ranging, competitive prices, quality advice and friendly service.

New Owners

Long term local Dunsborough family Trent and Kristin Wilson (and their two children Delaney and Blake) pulled on their Blundstone's in July 2014. They have taken on the challenge of expanding the garden and homewares sections at Dunsborough Hardware & Home Centre with great enthusiasm and are delighted to be serving their customers alongside their friendly and helpful staff. They will also continue to support local community fundraising, school initiatives (like the OLC School Garden) and sporting clubs, most recently sponsoring the Dunsborough Basketball Club with new uniforms.
